About Frederick J Haycock
Born in Warwickshire in 1948, Fred studied at Nuneaton School of Art and Coventry College of Art & Design. He began painting professionally in 1982 having worked for over 10 years as an illustrator. Local exhibitions of his work resulted in many private commissions which continue to this day.
His originals are held in collections in Europe, USA and Japan. In 1993, Soloman & Whitehead published his first limited edition print, almost all of which are now sold out.
Fred was known for his horse and fox hunting paintings during the 1980's. By the mid 1990's, the number of originals and prints dropped dramatically as Fred concentrated on illustration work although he produced several paintings including dog portraits during this time. In 2004, Brimstone Fine Art published a set of 4 limited edition prints (the Four Setters). Fred is now probably better known for his paintings of dogs than horses although both have featured in his work throughout his career.
In 2008, Fred won the Society of Equestrian Artists Connolly North Prize for his painting 'The Huntsman'.
