Martin is a professional artist living and working in Jersey. He moved to Jersey as a small child and grew up in the wilds of the St Ouen's Bay area. This instilled in him an instinctive feel for the essence of the Jersey landscape.
He was originally taught by revered Jersey artist Fred Sands RI, but then trained in Law and pursued other careers as a Probation Officer, Government Researcher and Church Minister before becoming a full time artist.
He has exhibited in numerous galleries in the UK, as well as in Jersey. His works, often large and bold contemporary interpretations of iconic Jersey scenes, are in the collections of both private and corporate clients.
"To me, painting is about atmosphere, mood and place' he says. 'Light is everything-it is the artist's job to capture it. People often say they want to be able to walk into a painting-it's my job to paint in a way that enables them to do that".
Martin has recently been elected a member of NAPA (National Acrylic Painters Association).
