Hayley Gillespie was born in England in 1972. She has worked as an artist in a number of guises, from set design for theatre companies, arts projects with young people, and hand painted furniture. In 1996 she relocated to Queensland, Australia and worked mainly as a mural artist, until a few years ago when Hayley began painting on canvas for galleries around Australia.
"My inspiration lies within the memories of my own childhood and that of my son's. Although many things have changed over the years, the imagination of any child evolves through the same play and simple joys that are timeless to us all.
I want to capture these adventures through the eyes of the child, and for we "grown ups" to sink back to that magical, hopeful and very short while, when anything was possible. Remember"?
